Film Festival
I'd like to invite key players in the film industry who currently live near or in Hull to join me in this Fall Film Festival adventure. I call it an adventure because it's the first time Hull is having a film festival, that I know of, so it's most likely going to be an adventure....navigating the political waters, the creative waters, the logistical waters and who knows, if we have a storm that day with a full moon, the actual waters, too! ;)
If you want to be a judge or help in anyway to organize this Fall Film Festival, please email or call me. I'd like to have your picture and a bio that I can share on this website on the Panelist page. I do appreciate all the help. :)
Nantasket's Film Basket's Fall Film Festival will be held on Saturday, September 20th. If things go as I'd like them to, I see this a multi-venue affair. I have the green light to screen the children and family shorts at the Hull Library in the Noonan Room beginning at 3:30pm, then ideally, the salty shorts being screened at the Life Saving Museum, the funny shorts at the Sea Dog and the more dramatic or uncategorized shorts screened at the Nantasket Beach Resort.
But will there be a general theme you ask? Yes, the theme will be...drum roll please....Firsts. Hull is known for many firsts, like the first lit baseball field and the first electric train, and somebody just said the first carousel in the states...I need to check on that last one, but anyway, that's why I thought our Short Film Festival should be themed FIRSTS.
How will we spread the word? Let's have a party!
I think a good date would be the summer solstice, Saturday June 21, 2014. You do, too! Great. Then it's settled. ( I know. I know. I have to work on the WHERE part of the party planning. Any ideas? )
How about the next day we have a Short Film 101 workshop? You like that, too? Super then, done deal. You want to be a teacher, a speaker, a motivational coach....join us! David Fresina will be speaking on the subject of what is and what isn't important when considering making a short film. Randy Veraguas, (that's me) will be giving a film acting class. Send me an email about what you'd like to learn. Do you have an idea of where we can hold that Short Film 101 workshop? The High School?? That's a great idea. Let's get Peter Sietz to give us his thoughts....
So, if your film is the first one you've produced, submit it. If it's about a first, submit it. How do you do that you ask? Good question. Put your short on Vimeo or YouTube so we can review it. Send us the link when you submit by adding your Short Film Submission to your cart. (below)
I'll have a team of people who'll be deciding what film will get into the festival. Submission rules:
No horror. And please tell us what about your short has to do with "Firsts".
Again, if you have any ideas or advise or comments, I'm open to hearing them.
Cheers, Randy

Please email us your link to your short to be considered for the Nantasket's Film Basket's Fall Film Festival.
If you 'd rather send us a DVD, please send it to address on top of the page. The $20 fee, that is currently half off, is to cover expenses to have all the judges watch your short AND it goes toward the prizes. THank YOu. :)
